Research note: This comparison is designed to help you decide between two different latex-mattress approaches. We focus on construction, adjustability, materials, and ownership tradeoffs instead of pretending that one mattress is universally best.
The biggest difference
Spindle's flagship is all-latex. Avocado Green is a latex hybrid with a zoned pocket-coil support core. That one construction decision changes the comparison more than most marketing claims.
Materials
Both brands currently market certified organic latex. Avocado's Green Mattress uses GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex in its main Firm, Medium, and Plush configurations, with the amount varying by model. Spindle uses nine inches of GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex in its flagship all-latex model.
Support feel
Spindle's deep support comes from latex. Avocado's comes from individually wrapped coils arranged in zones. If you specifically want to avoid springs, Spindle is the more direct fit. If you want coil support and a reinforced perimeter, Avocado is structurally closer to that preference.
Firmness strategy
Spindle changes feel through layer order and related configurations. Avocado currently offers several distinct comfort builds from firmer to plusher models. One is modular; the other is model-selection driven.
Who should choose which?
Choose based first on all-latex versus latex-hybrid construction. After that, compare the exact comfort option, trial terms, weight, delivery method, and current price.
Setup and ownership
Spindle's modular construction means the owner assembles and can later rearrange separate latex layers inside the cover. Avocado Green is delivered as a completed hybrid mattress; the internal latex and coil system are not intended to be rearranged by the owner. That difference affects more than setup day: it determines whether future comfort changes happen by reconfiguring components or by choosing a different finished mattress configuration.
How to make the decision
Start with the support core. If your goal is an all-latex mattress with no coil unit, Spindle is the direct match. If you prefer a zoned pocket-coil system with latex above it, Avocado Green belongs on the shortlist. Only after that decision should price, firmness option, certification scope, trial terms, delivery, and warranty become tie-breakers.
